2014-02-05 - Expectations and
Disappointments
Quite recently, I came into an unexpected surprise that was forthcoming.
As I found myself excited and appreciated, I then also learned that it was
misplaced, and for a period of time, I was quite disappointed. It amazed
me how quickly I allowed myself to be taken back to a place of multiple
disappointments.
The enemy enjoys this kind of thinking, and longs for us to remember past
disappointments and mistakes, whether they are our own or those of someone
close to us. Forgiveness means letting go of all the old baggage from the
past and every time it comes again in the present. Just as a wise woman once
told me no one ever said it would be easy it certainly is not.
Fortunately, we have a Creator that does not disappoint,
and who always meets the expectations He lays out for Himself. So we can
rely on Him to carry us through all of the challenges this life presents
to us. Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider
the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and
forever. (Hebrews 13:7-8)
