2013-12-23 - What Would a Blind Man
Say?
John
9:1-23
"We know he is our son," the parents answered, "and we
know he was born blind." (John 9:20 NIV)
I was born blind and spent my days begging on the street. One day that all
changed. Jesus saw me and I was healed. For the first time in my life I was
able to see. Those who witnessed the transformation asked how it was possible.
I gave Jesus all the credit. The Pharisees, religious leaders of the time,
did not believe I was born blind so they asked my parents.
My parents confirmed my blindness at birth but said they did not exactly
know how I received my sight and to ask me. They were afraid to get involved
for if anyone acknowledged Jesus as the Christ they were ostracized.
Its good my parents were confident I could defend myself, but I was
disappointed in their actions. I needed them on my side. I wanted them to
rescue me from this ridiculous line of questioning from the Pharisees. My
parents didnt. They were looking out for themselves. I know no one
is perfect, it still hurts.
I can rejoice in the fact that I can see! I am no longer a blind man and
for that I am very grateful.
Lord, Show me how to be less self-centered when someone
needs me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
