Luke 1:26-39, 45-56

‘For no word from God will ever fail.’ (Luke 1:37)

I was amazed that God wanted me, a young girl, to carry the Son of God, through the grace of the Holy Spirit. At a time when I had every right to panic or refuse the angel Gabriel, I praised God.

The angel mentioned that Elizabeth, my cousin was also pregnant, another miracle in itself. I went to see her. My visit came at such a crucial time in our lives, both of us being with child. That was a comfort.

As soon as Elizabeth heard my voice she felt a thump in her stomach, like the baby was leaping for joy. She was full of the Holy Spirit and told me how favored I and my unborn baby are. Such happiness filled the house.

I wasn’t just her cousin anymore. Elizabeth called me “the mother of my Lord”. (verse 43) To be the mother of the world’s Savior really sunk in. God must have had His reasons for choosing me for this special honor.

I know it is a responsibility to have a child and I could have been consumed with how others would react and how was I to raise this special and Godly child, for some reason I wasn’t. I praised God instead of wondering and worrying what was ahead of me. I am indeed blessed. God’s mercy is available to all who reverence Him.

Lord, Squelch any doubts that want to try to discourage me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
