[CF Devotionals] 2013-12-10 - What Would a Military Officer Say?

- - - - - - -

Matthew 8:5-13

The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.” (Matthew 8:8 NIV)

The Lord is available to us at any place and at any time. Right after Jesus said He would come to my home and heal the paralyzed employee racked with pain, I got to thinking. I was not worthy for such a visit. Besides, Jesus could heal the boy without leaving the Capernaum road we were on.

As an officer, I have seen how soldiers and workers obey me. When I ask soldiers to do something they do it, no questions asked. How much more would sickness take a hike coming from Jesus who has the ultimate authority over sickness? Jesus was amazed at my trust. Jesus said He had never seen faith like mine in all of Israel. Because of that faith, Jesus told me to go home that the boy was already healed!

Lord, I know You exist and have the power to change things. I want to have faith that You are my good shepherd. I need You to be real in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
