2013-09-16 - What Would Jesus Say?

Mark 6:1-6

When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were amazed. “Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What's this wisdom that has been given him, that he even does miracles!” (Mark 6:2 NIV)

I returned to My hometown for a visit and brought My disciples along. It was amazing how many were not grateful for My gifts of healing and restoration. I could only heal a few sick people before leaving, due to the community’s lack of faith.

The people wanted their hurtful words to tear Me down, so they could be lifted up. They were jealous, not having the same insights as Me, someone with their same background. If they only knew.

The people didn’t see or know what was ahead of Me, nor would they be ready to do what the Father had asked of Me, His Son. It goes to show that a prophet isn’t given much respect among friends and relatives who "knew Him when.

Lord, Let me not be shortsighted, and help my words to be edifying and not upsetting. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
