2013-07-31 - What Would Gabriel Say?

Luke 1:26-38

The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you" (Luke 1:28)

I am on Earth, telling a young woman named Mary miraculous news. My statement to Mary was joyous and congratulatory to the privileged woman. She was taken aback by my presence. I forgot how timid mortals can be.

I told her God had chosen her to carry a son and name Him Jesus. This baby would also be called the Son of God. Jesus would rule over Israel forever, and His kingdom would never end.

Mary wondered how she could bear a child, as she has never had physical relations with a man. She asked more out of curiosity than uncertainty. The birth would be a holy one, as the Holy Spirit would come upon Mary. She was gracious and said she would do what the Lord willed.

Lord, I don't want a lack of faith in my life. Explain to me how I can be a true example of a faithful steward. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
