[CF Devotionals] 2013-07-20 - Our Refuge

Psalm 31:2 "Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me." (NIV)

Although David was a powerful and successful king of Israel, he had his enemies. First, King Saul tried to kill him numerous times. From his sons, David faced conspiracy to overthrow him. His army was frequently involved in battle against the foes of Israel. Where did David turn for help, when he faced troubles? David relied on God for his protection.

Today's verse tells us that David prayed to God for protection in times of distress. We know from reading the Old Testament, that God answered David's pleas. Today, we too can turn to God when we face difficult times in our lives. He is still the same rock and fortress that David relied on in ancient times. Will your trust Him to help you today?
