2013-07-01 - What Would Haggai Say?

Haggai 1-2:5

This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Give careful thought to your ways." (Haggai 1:7)

It is interesting to see God's perspective. It's refreshing when God speaks to His people. I just happen to be the spokesman God chose for this errand. I take no personal claim to the words spoken. It was my task to tell the people that God told them to start working on His house. The people needed to reprioritize their focus and stinginess. The people paid attention to making their homes elegant, instead of working on God's house, and as a result they were not honoring the Lord - and their actions were getting in the way of their blessing. Incidentally, while neglecting God, they were still not satisfied.

From their perspective, it was more important that their dwelling had paneled walls, instead of the temple being atoned in luxury. All their hard work and labor would be in vain. And so God called for a drought to infest the land. This got the people's attention, and they listened to my words and began to work on the Lord's house. They began to put Him first. God did not give up on these people; He was with them while they worked on His behalf and for His glory.

Lord, Help me not to procrastinate when I hear You leading me to do something. Thank You for being willing to listen. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
