2013-05-07 - What Would King Solomon Say?
"As for this temple you are building, if you follow my decrees, carry out my regulations and keep all my commands and obey them, I will fulfill through you the promise I gave to David your father." (1 Kings 6:12)
I wanted to build a temple, a church in honor of God, but I was no building specialist. I needed experts. It was originally my father, David's idea to build a temple dedicated to God; it was not to be done in his lifetime. I took on the duty while on the throne. I had been king for four years, and since there was no enemy breathing down our back, it seemed the ideal time to start making my dad's vision become reality.
Nothing was too good for God's house. The temple would be built next to the palace, and I wanted it to have artistic frames and to be made of stone. The structure should have three sections, a portico, main sanctuary, and an inner sanctuary. Of course, it will be handsomely decorated and have carvings on the doors and doorposts.
It would be an exquisite place for God and God's people. Some could say this was a lofty project. I prayed God's blessing on the house of God. With God behind it, all would come together. And it did. It took awhile, but after 13 years, the temple was complete.
Lord, May I use the strategies of Solomon, to get work done. May I not give up on the vision You have placed within me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
