Good Friday 2013

"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body, but made alive by the Spirit."--1 Peter 3:18

On Good Friday two centuries ago, Jesus suffered an agonizing death on a cross on a hill called Golgotha. He was beaten, mocked, and then hung on a cross. His Disciples and followers watched in despair as He died. It appeared that His ministry was over. Their hopes were dashed and, fearing persecution, they went into hiding. What good would come out of this Friday?

We know today about Easter Sunday. We know that Jesus was resurrected. He died for our sins and arose from the dead. As Peter said, Jesus died to bring us to God. So, today, on Good Friday, we should think about how Jesus suffered and died for our sins. He took our punishment and turned it into eternal life. That is the Good News from Good Friday.
