2012-12-15 - Being Still

Psalm 46:10--"Be still and know that I am God." (NIV)

As Christmas approaches, we are bombarded by television advertisements telling us what we need to buy. We hear reminders on the radio that there are only a certain number of shopping days left before Christmas. When we log onto the internet, ads pop up, telling us that we need to take advantage of limited-time sales events. There are Christmas parties to attend and Christmas programs to prepare for and then perform. Christmas seems to be a time of hustle and bustle. Ready or not, the Christmas season is upon us. Hurry up and get ready.

In all our Christmas haste, do we lose out on the true meaning of Christmas? Do we think of what God did, when He sent His only Son into our world, to take  way our sins?

Take time this Christmas season, to slow down and take time to "Be still and know that I am God."
