2012-04-08 - What Would Joseph of Arimathea
Say?
Happy Easter!
Luke
23:50-54
Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body. Then he took
it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock,
one in which no one had yet been laid. (Luke 23:52-53)
I did not do it to make waves or to bring attention to myself; I did it out
of respect. It was the least I could do for Jesus, my redeemer. I wish I
had the power to stop what happened to Jesus. He deserved the best, although
He was given a disgusting and unfair death.
After seeing and hearing people degrade and belittle Jesus, it was a nice
change of pace to do something good for Him. I wrapped Jesus' body in linen
cloth and placed Him in an unused tomb by the side of a hill. As I was tending
to Jesus, I half-expected Him to say something to me. It was hard seeing
the Savior so lifeless, but at peace.
Lord, I know that You desire every person in the world
to accept You as his personal Savior. Let me live a way that my friends and
family members will ask what's different about me. Then I can tell them about
You. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
