2012-03-30 - A Simple Defense
1 Peter 3:15 (NASB) - but sanctify Christ as Lord in your
hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to
give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and
reverence;
We are to always be ready to answer why we believe - to always be ready to
defend our faith. Here's a simple defense that popped in my head that I thought
I'd share. I live in Georgia and many people I know have not ventured out
of the Southeastern United States so this argument works for me. You can
adapt it as you see fit.
Have you ever been to Disneyland in California?
How about Disneyland in Europe?
Do you believe they exist?
So you've never seen it but you believe it exists. Why?
OK I see, it's because you've seen pictures and heard stories about it.Well
that's why I believe in Christ. The Bible is a written picture of Jesus.
As far as ancient manuscripts go we can reproduce it better than practically
all other ancient manuscripts. And I've hear stories of people who have
experienced encounters with him. And I too have experienced encounters with
him. It's hard to explain because it's not like how I am standing here talking
to you right now. These encounters just go on inside me but it seems just
as real to me.
This simple, non-hostile defense has helped me and I hope something like
it may help you as you represent your King and mine today and every day.
