[CF Devotionals] 2012-01-30 - What Would a Social Outcast Say?

Matthew 8:1-4

Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately, he was cured of his leprosy. (Matthew 8:3)

There was a crowd of people, but I did not care. I was going to get rid of this leprosy and be healed. I had no fear approaching Jesus. I wasn't going to live my life as a social outcast, when Jesus was so close. I knew He had the power to make me well. I knelt down in front of Jesus. I had to make the effort. Who knows when and if Jesus would be available to me again. I just had to take the first step.

I knelt in front of the man Jesus; this was my physical sign of faith in Him. I then asked if Jesus was willing, if He would cleanse me. Jesus touched me and said He was willing. He said two simple but beautifully, profound words and I was clean on the spot!

I did not have time to bask in my new found wellness. The Lord instructed me not to talk to anyone, and to go see a priest and bring the required offering for lepers who are healed, which indicated a public testimony of one's cure. I did what I was told. It was so difficult not to tell people what had just happened to me. I wanted to scream and shout at the top of my lungs how Jesus healed me, but I didn't. When people saw me, they would know I was changed. I was so happy and thankful to the Lord for healing me.

Lord, Thank You that You are willing to take care of me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
