2011-09-26 - What Would Apollo
Say?
Acts
18:24-26
He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he
spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew
only the baptism of John. (Acts 18:25)
I was born in Alexandria, a very large seaport. As I grew up, I learned about
the Lord, predominately about the baptism of John, which paved the way for
the Messiah's coming. Later I taught and boldly spoke about God. Neither
was I afraid of public speaking, nor above improvement. After hearing me
speak, a couple took me aside and explained God more accurately to me. I
was eloquent and mighty in the Scriptures, but I was missing something. I
never heard of the Holy Spirit before. I only knew about the teaching of
John the Baptist.
Aquila and Priscilla saw potential in me and nurtured my heart toward God.
They filled in the blanks regarding Jesus the Messiah. Aquila and Priscilla
didn't want a spotlight on them. They wanted the attention to be on Jesus
and His magnificent works. Their insight set me on the road to hear from
God more. I am still speaking in the synagogues, with more confidence than
ever, because I know God is leading me. Now I am able to proof, via the
Scriptures, that Jesus is indeed the Christ.
Lord, I believe You exist, but honestly, there is so
much I don't know about You or the Bible. I know You want me to live the
best life. So I ask You to give me more knowledge, so I can live better and
share more about You with others. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
