2011-08-29 - What Would a Spectator Say?
Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. "Lord," the man said, "if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean." (Matthew 8:2)
I understand the leper's reluctance to approach someone in a position to help him, but this wasn't just any man, it was Jesus Christ, a man known for His power to cure and heal.
Suppose the ill man went by his feelings, and did not talk to Jesus. His mind was probably telling him it was not a good time to talk to Jesus, and that He would not be in the mood to heal someone.
The man's fears were unfounded. Jesus was willing and healed the man! He did it so effortlessly! The man would never have to live another day with a horrific skin disease again. I am glad this man did not let fear stop him from talking with Jesus.
Lord, It's great You gave the blind their sight, and the lame could finally walk, but what about me? I don't have those types of problems, thankfully. I do need You to heal me, God. There are things that still bother me, and I need You to make sense of them. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
What does shyness cost you?
