2011-01-27 - Tomorrow's Worries
Matt 6:34" So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (NASB)
When I get to the end of my day there are generally a few things left over that need to be done. It is indeed rare to reach bed time and know that every item I wanted to accomplish has been checked off my ToDo list. Even at that point there is another ToDo list lurking in the shadows of tomorrow. Having things to do is not a bad thing at all. Too many things to do might mean it's time to evaluate from where those demands are coming.
If I look back I know that the second half of this verse is also rarely difficult to satisfy in seeing where this day's troubles have been found. Let's look at the idea that those things we see as problems are opportunities to show character, to help, etc. - to be an ambassador for Christ.
When you get to the end of the day, update your ToDo list if you have not done so during the day, and set it aside. Trust that God will provide for tomorrow with the tools you need to do the job again be it parent, professional or personal tasks that need to be handled. Tomorrow will come soon enough and worrying will only bring it here with less sleep.
Please read starting at verse 25 of this chapter and see how Jesus wants us to trust Him rather than to worry about things we can not change or that He will provide.
Lord Jesus - Please help us to order our ToDo lists and to be aware of the opportunities to serve You in the problems of our daily lives, and to prayerfully trust You to lead us. Keep us in Your way. Amen.
James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. (NASB)
Grace & Peace,
