2010-12-29 - The New Year

As we are standing upon the threshold of another year, for just a moment
let us give thanks to our wonderful Lord and Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.
He has taken care of all our needs and blessed us far beyond anything we
could imagine.
1 Thess. 5:18 In everything give thanks: for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
During the past year you may have had to rest completely in the Lord, for
we "know that all things work together for good to them
that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose" (Romans
8:28) .
With our finite minds we cannot understand or reason why events both physical
and spiritual, come to us as children of God, but this we do know and can
rest securely in the fact that our Creator cares for His created! As we stop
to contemplate what the past year has brought us, let us take time to thank
God for all He has done. Let us take time to pray that His Holy will be done
in the coming year.
Let us pray that His Holy Spirit will reveal those areas of our lives which
we have failed to yield to Him and let us surrender and place them under
His control.
Let us thank God for every opportunity we have been given to share His word
and pray with earnest to be used for the glory of His kingdom.
Let us live with the motivation of Isaiah 62:6&7 "I
have posted watchman on your walls O Jerusalem; they will never be silent
day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give
Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the
earth."
Let us begin again and declare like Paul, "Not that I
have already attained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I
press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers
I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do:
forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on
toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in
Christ Jesus."
In His Service,
Rick & Sandy
