The Ten Commandments ~ Part 44
Seventh Commandment, Part 7
Practical Application
So what are some of the ways we can strengthen our marriages? It isn't enough
to make sure our marriage is in good shape. We also have a responsibility
to strengthen one another's. Within the body, we have to show concern for
all the marriages. We must be supportive to those in trouble. We have to
be willing to take action, when sin does overtake this relationship.
And what are some of the ways we can strengthen our relationship with the
Lord? Our lives, then, should be typified by faithfulness. Faithfulness in
our marriages and faithfulness in our relationship to the Lord. These will
feed one another, because if we can't practice fidelity in one area, it is
unlikely that we will be able in other.
We live in a society where functioning marriages appear to be the exception,
not the rule. People are usually amazed that Janette and I have been married
almost thirty years. But it is a commitment to God that makes a commitment
in marriage possible.
