The Good, the Bad, and the Godly ~ Part 21
Happy Father's Day! While today marks the end of our series titled "The Good and the Godly, Parental Lessons from the Lord", I pray that glimpses of His parenting skills do not end for you.
"The LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the desert. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reach this place." Deuteronomy 1:30-31
Even when we are ungrateful and unfaithful, God takes care of us. Look at the Egyptians. They complained, lacked trust in the Lord, and turned to other gods. God, in return, did not reward their fleshly behavior, but He did not leave them.
This group of people witnessed miracles we don't see today. (For example, when God parted the Red Sea so that they could walk through it - and later, when God sent food miraculously down from the sky.) Still, the Egyptians doubted.
We, too, may think the present misery and confusion will last forever. We may believe God has forgotten us. The truth is God that has proven that He wants you and me free, and not living a life of gloom and doom. Deep down, we must hold fast to the knowledge that a tunnel of despair isn't God's choice for His children.
Even when our circumstances have not changed, we should turn our attention back to God. Without this step, nothing will change. God has been good to us, and while it may be difficult, we must not lose sight of this unwavering fact.
Lord, My gracious Father, I pray that You will enjoy this Father's Day. Thank You for being my Daddy, and not abandoning me. I love You. Amen.
