The Good, the Bad, and the Godly ~ Part 18
Then he prayed, "O LORD, God of my master Abraham, give me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham." (Genesis 24:12)
I have heard the story of Issac and Rebekah many times, but until recently, did I see the type of dad God portrayed in the couple's pairing. Before Abraham's servant set out on his journey, he asked for God's blessing. The man needed God's favor to complete the task Abraham, his boss, had sent him on. He wanted to be one hundred percent sure the woman he picked was the gal God created for Isaac.
Faced with an enormous challenge, this man turned to the Lord, His Father for assistance. The man asked God to specifically show him if one of the girls was "the one". He set up a possible scenario for God, and even before the man finished talking to God, one of the girls, named Rebekah, had arrived at the well. It turned out she was Abraham's grandniece. Rebekah generously provided the man and his camels a drink of water. Rebekah met the qualifications. She was an unselfish, young, and beautiful woman; perfect for Isaac.
The man did not neglect to thank the Lord for His provision. He praised God for answering his prayer. The answered prayer showed that the Lord can be trusted. If you are facing a challenge today, ask the Lord to put it into perspective. May He give you wisdom on how to have it turn out successful.
Lord, Thank You for making the impossible possible. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
