2010-04-12- Parental Lessons from an Official
The Good, the Bad, and the Godly ~ Part 11
"Jesus replied, 'You may go. Your son will live.' The man took Jesus at his word and departed."(John 4:50)
Jesus was the official's only hope. His son lay dying, and the man needed Jesus, to bring the lad back to health. When the father heard Jesus was in town, he went and begged Him to heal his son. Instead of Jesus immediately following the man home, He said a general statement about seeing is believing. Again, the official asked Jesus to come with him. Time was ticking away. Jesus didn't budge, and told the man to go; his son would live.
There was nothing else to do, but take Jesus at His word. On the way home, one of the official's workers found him, and told him his son was well.
From that point forward, I do not believe the dad's steps touched the ground.
The boy's fever had broken, the moment Jesus told the father his son would be fine.
Time was on this family's side, after all. The official's household had no uncertainties regarding Jesus, after the momentous miracle. The official did not need Jesus' physical presence, for his son to gain his health; all that was needed was the faith.
Lord, You are the great physician and can heal every ailment. Give me wisdom on how to care for my body, Your holy temple. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
