2008-05-30 - How to Embrace a Heavenly Father
At one point in our lives, whether it has been years, months, or
weeks, we had to brush up on our decision-making skills and decide if
there was room in our lives for God. If you've never chosen God as
your Heavenly father, no matter the circumstances, no matter why you
need an extra parent in your corner, choosing God as a Heavenly father
is always an option. He's there for us. God doesn't want us because
He's bored or for vanity's sake. He doesn't have a cap on how many
kids He'll take under His wing. The Lord is ready to accept us. (Psalm
27:10)
It's up to you. You are the one in the driver seat, with the control. He's got all this acceptance, love, and time to shower upon us, waiting in mid-air for us to decide if we're willing to take a chance, to put ourselves in yet another vulnerable position and have a relationship with Him.
Who Is Our Heavenly Father?
- He is a Father to the fatherless. Psalm 68:5
- He is your Creator and Protector. Psalms 33:13-15 and 55:22
- He won't lead you astray. Psalm 18:30 and Isaiah 58:11
Why Would God Want Me?
- He made you. Ephesians 1:11
- He loves you. Psalm 103:13
- You're His child. 1 John 3:1
Rewards from a Heavenly God
- He's available 24/7. Jeremiah 23:23
- We are never abandoned. Deuteronomy 4:31
- He defends us. Psalm 72:4
Lord, I admit I have blamed You for a lot of things. I never believed You could love someone like me. I'm ready to take that step and believe. Please forgive me for the wrong choices and mistakes I've made. I want to make things right, and so I turn my life over to You. Show me what it means and takes to be Your child. Bring people into my life that can help me, instead of tearing me down. May I accept and receive all the love and blessings Your son Jesus died for me to obtain. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
