2007-10-27 - What Went Wrong?
References: 1 Samuel 1, 2:18, 21, 26, 3:10, 19-21, 8:2-3
Samuel is an example of a man who loved and obeyed God. He was a wanted child
who grew up learning about the Lord and doing His work. Samuel advised people
and anointed Kings Saul and David. From the outside looking in, it seems
easy to resent Samuel for his good life and connection with the Lord. With
all his training and time with God, Samuel wasn't perfect. His two sons rebelled
against his morals and ways. While the prophetic Samuel was a man people
respected and listened to, his sons were corrupt and money hungry. The Bible
doesn?t specify why Samuel failed to reach his boys. But Samuel's life encourages
us to know that God can still use us, despite imperfections.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend
on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show
you which path to take.(Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT)
