2007-01-29 - Basic Beliefs
Based on The Apostle's Creed ~ Final Installment
(I believe in) "...the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting."
Just as with the doctrine of forgiveness - without a belief in everlasting
life, there would be no Christian faith. The Apostle Paul put it bluntly
in 1 Corinthians 15:14, "And if Christ has not been raised,
our preaching is useless and so is your faith."
Paul goes on to teach that Christ is only the "firstfruit" of the resurrected.
All who believe in Him as Savior will be resurrected when He returns (verse
23).
Paul also explains that we will have brand-new bodies in the resurrection.
Are you paralyzed or unable to walk for another reason? In the resurrection,
you will leap with joy. Are you bowed over with osteoporosis? In the
resurrection, you will stand up straight as you look lovingly at your Lord.
Are you blind? In the resurrection, you will be joyfully beholding your Savior.
Are you in chronic and agonizing pain? In the resurrection, you will be
pain-free. There are no imperfections in Heaven - just the joy of eternity
with our Lord.
This concludes our series on the Biblical background of some of the basic
beliefs of the Christian faith. Our prayer is (as always at CF Devotionals)
that God will use the devotionals to bless you.
