Foundations, Conclusion
Acts 2:42 (New Living Translation) They joined with the
other believers and devoted themselves to the apostle's teaching and fellowship,
sharing in the Lord's Supper and in prayer.
To me, the "icing on the cake" of the Christian life is fellowship. We have
fellowship with God, and with our fellow Christian sisters and brothers.
Church family can sustain you in your most devastating experiences, multiply
your joy, strengthen you in temptation and encourage you to be God's best.
1 Thess. 5:10-12 (Contemporary English Version) Wherefore
comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
Romans 12:15 (Contemporary English Version) When others
are happy, be happy with them, and when they are sad, be sad.
God never intended us to walk this Christian road alone. Even those of you
who grew up in abusive homes can have a loving family around you now. It's
never too late. For most of us, this community is to be found in the local
church. For those not able to attend such a church, fellowship can be found
in the community where we live, and / or online (with caution).
Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together. Some
are in the habit of doing this. Instead, let us cheer each other up with
words of hope. Let us do it all the more as you see the day coming when Christ
will return.
When I'm traveling or having a stressful day, I can feel the prayers of my
Christian friends, buoying me up. When I need a listening ear, I can call
a good friend and vent, and they know they can do the same with me.
Someone out there needs your fellowship, and you need theirs. As the old phone
commercial said, "Reach out and touch someone" (emotionally)!
