The Way
Read with me verse 6 of John, Chapter 14
John 14:6 Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and
the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
How does one go through Jesus?
Turn to Romans Chapter 5. Read with me, starting at verse 12.
Romans 5:12 says "Therefore, just as sin entered the world
through one man, and death through sin, in this way was death spread to all
men, because all sinned.
1 Corinthians 15:22 says ´For just as in Adam all
die, so also in Christ all shall be made alive.
At first glance, this sounds like all people will be made alive. But the
identifier is in Adam and in Christ.
For someone who has not been born again, he is still in the way, the truth
and the life of Adam, which is sin, which leads to death.
In the Old Testament, God established a way for a man's sin to be covered.
He started it with the first sin, with Adam's sin. It was the shedding of
blood of an animal, to make clothing to cover Adam and Eve's nakedness. This
was a permanent covering for the sin, which is why all people wear clothes
today. It did not, however, cancel out the consequences that God promised
- which was that they would surely die. All were cursed at that time for
one man's sin.
Do you know why Jesus came to die?
He came to save the world from the debt of sin. He didn't come to condemn
it, because it has already been condemned. He came to seek and save the lost.
He came that we might have life, and have it abundantly with Him.
John 3:16 says "for God so loved the world, that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but
have eternal life."
It is through Jesus Christ, the way to the Father, the Way of the Cross leads
home.
