2004-04-10 - Identified through
David
The Jesus the Carpenter - His Address Series, Part 7
Hello Friends,
Last week we saw God narrow the identifying address of Jesus down to the
tribe of Judah.
Today will see God continue to narrow the address down specifically to identify
Jesus the Carpenter
According to 1 Samuel, within the tribe Judah, the line of Jessie is chosen.
Jesse had eight sons. And now God eliminates seven eighths of the family
line of Jessie, when he chooses the house of David to be the line of Jesus.
The Lord Sends Samuel to Jesse
1 Samuel (16:1, 11-13), NIV
1 Samuel 16:1 The LORD said to Samuel, "How long will
you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your
horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem.
I have chosen one of his sons to be king." (NIV)
The Lord Tells Samuel to Anoint David.
1 Samuel 16:11-13 So he asked Jesse, "Are these all the
sons you have?" "There is still the youngest," Jesse answered, "but he is
tending the sheep." Samuel said, "Send for him; we will not sit down until
he arrives." 12 So he sent and had him brought in. He was
ruddy, with a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said,
"Rise and anoint him; he is the one." 13 So Samuel took the
horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that
day on, the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power. Samuel then went
to Ramah. (NIV)
We See David as Jesse's Son, in the Genealogy of Jesus
Matthew 1:4-6 Ram the father of Amminadab, Amminadab
the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon,
5 Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz
the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse,
6 and Jesse the father of King David. David was the father
of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife." (NIV)
We will continue with another prophecy next time, as we continue to identify
the address of Jesus the Carpenter.
May God bless you my friends.
In Christ,
Rob
