Judah
The Jesus the Carpenter - His Address Series, Part 6
Hello My Friends,
I pray God's blessings on you all. Before we begin this devotional, I want
to share with you about my church family and Pastor and ask you to pray for
us. My Pastor is a Navy Chaplain and he has been activated and will be going
to Afghanistan for a minimum of 6 months. So I want to ask that you would
pray with me for him, his family, and our church. I also covet your prayers
right now for myself, because I am struggling with a bad cold that has my
body very miserable. However, my love for God, and love for you, are never
hindered.
Last time, we saw God narrow the identifying address of Jesus down by eliminating
fifty percent of the family line of Issac, when God chose Jacob to be the
line that the promised blessing of Jesus Christ would be identified through.
In this devotional, we will see God continue to narrow the address down
specifically to identify Jesus the Carpenter
According to Genesis 35:23-26, Jacob had twelve sons: Reuben, Simeon, Levi,
Judah, Dan, Napthali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulon, Joseph, Benjamin. These
were the fathers of the twelve tribes of Israel.
Genesis 35:23-26 The sons of Leah: Reuben the firstborn
of Jacob, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun. 24 The
sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin. 25 The sons of Rachel's
maidservant Bilhah: Dan and Naphtali. 26 The sons of Leah's
maidservant Zilpah: Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob, who were
born to him in Paddan Aram.
And now God eliminated eleven twelfths of the family line of Jacob, when
he chose the tribe of Judah to be the address that Jesus the Carpenter would
come from.
The Prophecy: Genesis 49:8-10 (Time Period 1760 BC)
Genesis 49:8-10 Judah, your brothers will praise you;
your hand will be on the neck of your enemies; your father's sons will bow
down to you. 9 You are a lion's cub, O Judah; you return
from the prey, my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, like a lioness-who
dares to rouse him? 10 The scepter will not depart from Judah,
nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs
and the obedience of the nations is his.
We see Judah in the Genealogy of Jesus as listed by Matthew.
The Fulfillment: Matthew 1:2-3 (Time Period 5 BC)
Matthew 1:2-3 Abraham was the father of Issac, Issac
the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
3 Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar,
Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram,
We will continue with another prophecy next time, as we continue to identify
the address of Jesus the Carpenter
May God bless you my friends.
In Christ,
Rob
