2001-08-04 - Messiah: His Final Call to
Israel
Part 37
Israel's place in the plan of God
According to the promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the blessing
of all nations is tied up with the Jewish people--the seed of Abraham--as
seen in many passages. At that time, King Messiah will have returned and
established His worldwide kingdom, in which all tribes, families, and nations
will be included.
Messiah King of Kings
The Messiah of Israel comes to Earth, being born of a virgin, and becomes
the ruler of the entire world : "Therefore the Lord himself will give you
a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his
name Emmanuel" (Isaiah 7:14).
Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son
is given; And the government shall be upon his shoulder. And his name shall
be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of
Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace, there shall be no
end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and
to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth, even forever.
The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.
This promise is in accord with the one found in Zechariah 14:9: And Jehovah
shall be King over all the earth: In that day shall Jehovah be one, and His
name one. And in Zephaniah 3:14-17, the prophet shouts: "Sing, O daughter
of Zion; shout, O Israel. Be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter
of Jerusalem. Jehovah hath taken away thy judgments; He hath cast out thine
enemy. The King of Israel, even Jehovah, is in the midst of thee; thou shalt
not fear evil any more. In that day, it shall be said to Jerusalem, "fear
thou not, O Zion. Let not thy hands be slack. Jehovah thy God is in the midst
of thee, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over thee with joy;
he will rest in his love. He will joy over thee with singing."
According to Zephaniah, Jehovah is to be King in the midst of His people.
This Jehovah who will reign in Israel is none other than Jehovah the Messiah
of Israel, who enters the world by miraculous conception and virgin birth.
The people of Israel are called upon to rejoice exceedingly because of His
reign in the midst of Israel.
Psalm 122:6
