1997-06-03 - David's Desires
What I know about horse racing wouldn't fill a thimble. But I do know that
on Saturday the third race in the Triple Crown is scheduled. There has not
been a horse that has won all three races in the Triple Crown since the 1970's.
There is a horse this year that has won the first two races and could win
the third this Saturday. This horse is named Silver Charm. His owner recently
said the following, "Silver Charm has the desire and the heart to win the
Triple Crown." What?!?! The horse has the desire to win the Triple Crown?
The thought is absurd.
In the Bible David is a man who shared a lot of his desires in the Psalms.
"Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness
With men who do iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies." Psalm
141:3, 4.
"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable
in Thy sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer." Psalm 19:14
"I will sing of lovingkindness and justice, To Thee, O Lord, I will sing
praises. I will give heed to the blameless way. When wilt Thou come to me?
I will walk within my house in the integrity of my heart." Psalm 101:1,2
"Create in me a clean heart, O God. And renew a steadfast spirit within
me." Psalm 51:10
"The Lord is my portion; I have promised to keep Thy words." Psalm 119:57
"Be Thou exalted, O Lord, in Thy strength; We will sing and praise Thy
power." Psalm 21:13
Now these are desires worth taking to heart for all God's people. Have a
blessed day!
"like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the word, that by it you
may grow in respect to salvation." 1 Peter 2:2
Soli Deo Gloria,
