Devotional - 99-11-26 - Some Words for
Husbands
The Family Series, Part 3
Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praiseth her.
1 Corinthians 7:3 & 4 Let the husband render unto
the wife (her) due benevolence: and likewise the wife unto the husband. The
wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the
husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife,
even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the Savior of the
body.
Ephesians 5:25 & 28 Husbands, love your wives, even
as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it..So ought men to love
their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not
bitter against them.
1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according
to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and
as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not
hindered.
I prayed about it, and prayed about it, and although I knew that this week
I was going to talk about the husband, I couldn't make up my mind which way
to go. There are so many verses and so many ideas! So, instead of my words,
I asked God to speak through HIS words, He does it so well, and the word
of God is alive and like a two-edged sword. I ask that you will read the
words, men, and ask God to touch you in the area of your life that needs
growth. Women, pray for your husbands, but HANDS OFF! I think that the reason
that I couldn't make up my mind is because I have a husband.
Let God do His job. Next week is for the wives. Pray for my fingers and mind.
God bless you as you grow in Him.
Father, You are truly a loving God. You declared Yourself
to be our Mother, our Father, our Lover, our Husband, our Redeemer, our
Vindicator, our Friend, our Counselor. Truly, You are our all in all. I ask
that if there is a man out there who has an area in his life that needs growth
that he would have the courage to say, "That's me, Lord, help me." I also
ask that women all over the world would pray that their husbands would have
the qualities and behavior traits that You desire to see in them. I also
pray that she would not attempt to change her husband, but would let You
work in him. Thank You for Your goodness. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
