Church projects that are not flowing as smoothly as we had hoped, family
situations that try our patience, goals or dreams whose fulfillment seem
so far away -- these and other situations can plunge us into discouragement.
But we need to persevere and trust God for the results. God's timetable is
often running at a slower speed than ours is is, but His timing is perfect.
Did you know that Noah preached for over 100 years before one person was
converted? Our job is to persevere; God is responsible for results.
Rom 12:12 (NRSV) Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering,
persevere in prayer.
James 1:25 (NRSV) But those who look into the perfect
law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but
doers who act--they will be blessed in their doing.
Luke 8:15 (NRSV) But as for that in the good soil, these
are the ones who, when they hear the word, hold it fast in an honest and
good heart, and bear fruit with patient endurance.
1 Tim 6:11 (NRSV) But as for you, man of God, shun all
this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance,
Heb 10:36 (NRSV) For you need endurance, so that when
you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
Rom 8:25 (NRSV) But if we hope for what we do not see,
we wait for it with patience.
Eccl 7:8 (NRSV) Better is the end of a thing than its
beginning; the patient in spirit are better than the proud in spirit.
