Devotional - 99-09-25 - Thy Kingdom Come
Each Gentile empire has been conquered by a succeeding one. This is not so
with the Kingdom of God. "It shall break into pieces and consume all
these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever." This "smiting stone" comes in
catastrophic judgment to end Gentile supremacy, because the authority of
God given to them has been abused and misused. They exalted themselves against
the God who promoted them; for this reason he will take the authority back
from the Gentiles, never to place it in their hands again. This is God's
message to the world.
Up to this point in human history the prophecy concerning the "smiting stone"
has not occurred, but the day of fulfillment is fast approaching. The Gentile
nations while trying to build a perfect world without God, without Christ
and without Israel, are watching as things throughout the world rapidly decline.
What is the world's immediate need? Jesus Christ first and foremost. A government
that is righteous and led by a Righteous leader. "Behold
a King shall reign in righteousness" Isaiah 32:1. You can trust this
ruler; He will rule with "a rod of iron" that is his scepter is as
inflexible as iron; whatever is right will remain so absolutely, whatever
is wrong with be penalized commensurably.
Peace. We see in Isaiah 2:1-4 that when the Lord Jesus returns He will take
away the military arms of the nations. Not only will they have nothing to
fight with but they will be unable to learn how to fight "neither shall they
learn war anymore." The Lord will bring to the nations of the world that
peace that they cannot secure with all their conferences, strategic studies
and peace-formulating commissions.
Plenty of Food. The greater segment of earths population goes to bed hungry.
The world attempts to solve this problem by reducing the population. Gods
plan calls for more food not less people. "Behold the
days come saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and
the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop
sweet wine, and the hills shall melt. (Amos 9:13)" Once the curse
is lifted from the earths harvest, they will be plentiful not only on the
present tillable land but on the earths millions of nonproductive acres of
desert.
There will be no more physical ills. When Messiah comes the curse will be
lifted from the ground and from the human race. All infirmities will be taken
away. Then will the prayer, "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven" be answered.
There will be no more fear. God's remedy for fear will be, "They shall sit
every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them
afraid." How can we be sure that will happen? Micah 4:4
"For the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken it." That is guarantee
enough.
There will be no more death. "And the ransomed of the
Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their
heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness and sorrow and sighing shall flee
away." Isaiah 35:10.
The crowning aspect of Gods glorious program for His earthly kingdom will
be this: "The earth will be filled with the knowledge
of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." Habbakuk 2:14,
Isaiah 11:9, Zechariah 14, all tell about the great day when the earth will
be filled with a knowledge of the glory of the Lord. Instead of hearing the
name of Jesus Christ blasphemed and the name of God cursed, the redeemed
will walk the streets praising the name of God.
Friends keep praying the pray "Thy kingdom come" it is our only hope.
In His Service,
Rick and Sandy
