Devotional - 99-08-15 - Passages about Wisdom
It's valuable, it's free, it helps us to live a truly joyful life, and we
can get it from the ultimate Source, God. Please note: To read an excellent

God's Wisdom
1 Cor 1:22-25 (NNAS) For indeed Jews ask for signs and
Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling
block and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both
Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the
foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger
than men.
James 3:17 (NNAS) But the wisdom from above is first
pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits,
unwavering, without hypocrisy.
Prov 3:19 (NNAS) The LORD by wisdom founded the earth,
By understanding He established the heavens.
Rev 5:11-12 (NNAS) Then I looked, and I heard the voice
of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders;
and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands,
saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power
and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing."
The Value of Wisdom
Job 28:18 (NNAS ) Coral and crystal are not to be mentioned;
And the acquisition of wisdom is above that of pearls.
Prov 8:10-11 (NNAS) Take my instruction and not silver,
And knowledge rather than choicest gold. For wisdom is better than jewels;
And all desirable things cannot compare with her.
Col 2:1-3 (NNAS) For I want you to know how great a struggle
I have on your behalf and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those
who have not personally seen my face, that their hearts may be encouraged,
having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes
from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of
God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures
of wisdom and knowledge.
How We Can Acquire Wisdom
Prov 1:7 (NNAS) The fear of the LORD is the beginning
of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.
James 1:5 (NNAS) But if any of you lacks wisdom,
let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and
it will be given to him.
Prov 2:2-6 (NNAS) Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding; For if you cry for discernment, Lift
your voice for understanding; If you seek her as silver And search for her
as for hidden treasures; Then you will discern the fear of the LORD And discover
the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge
and understanding.
Prov 13:10 (NNAS) Through insolence comes nothing but
strife, But wisdom is with those who receive counsel.
