Devotional - 98-05-23 - Love
is...
The Virtuous Woman Series, Part 3
Proverbs 31:12 "She shall do him good and not evil all
the days of her life." (KJV)
We've all seen her - I hope none of us are her!!! The Roseanne type
of woman. Nag, nag, nag. House is a mess, kids are a mess, bills piled high,
gossiping on the phone, gossiping with her friends about her friends,
nothing good to say about very many people, and not much good to be said
about her, either.
Matter of fact, the less said, the better (and safer!) it is.
The virtuous woman loves her husband. According to 1 Corinthians, these are
the qualities of love: long-suffering, kind, not envious, isn't hasty, doesn't
put herself first, isn't puffed-up with pride, isn't loud and obnoxious,
she loves people whether they love her or not, she isn't easily provoked,
she would never think badly about anyone - neither does she think wrongly!
She doesn't snicker when he bangs his thumb or when he "gets his", and she
is thrilled to see him walking with the Lord.
She knows she can hang onto the end, no matter what, she isn't scornful,
she believes the very best is yet to come! She endures, she is willing to
believe that health comes after sickness sometimes, and bad times come as
sure as the good.
She will always be there. Her husband can take that to the bank.
Father, create in me a clean heart. Renew a right spirit in me. Father,
it is my desire to be a virtuous woman for my husband. I want to be this
type of wife for him. I want to be this kind of woman for You! Help me to
remember that I am the Bride of Christ, and not just a wife down here. Father,
help me to be worthy to be called Yours. Amen.
