2020-07-007-07 - Pecking Order
Richard and I have been avid birdwatchers since 1989. We do volunteer work for a university's research program, and we also like to simply watch our feathered friends, just for the joy o fit. We have noticed that at the feeders, there is a normal pecking order. Each bird species has its place in the order, and usually follows it. What we have observed is that in our yard, at the top of the order are the Woodpeckers. Even among Woodpeckers, there is an order - such as the arrival of Red-bellies leading to Downies and Haries flying to the back of the queue.
Our lives should have a pecking order. And always, GOD should stand alone at the top of our pecking order. All our preiorites should be lived out in submission to His particular callings on our lives, and we should consider His will and glory in everything we do and say, as Christ taught His disciples and us, and which was recorded by Matthew:
Matthew 6:33 (NLT) Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Paul later similarly reminded us all:
1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV) So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
All verses are from the King James Version (KJV) unless otherwise noted.
