[CF Devotionals] 2020-06-12 Something to Say

I’ve not had anything to say until now…

IGNORANCE COMES IN ALL COLORS.

We don’t need to battle racism, sexism, or any other -ism. We just need to fight against ignorance. Once we all realize that we are all created in God’s image and we all have intrinsic value just as humans, then and only then will these –isms be stamped out. The -isms are really just symptoms of complete ignorance.

”If anyone says, ”I love God,“ and yet hates his brother or sister, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother or sister whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And we have this command from him: The one who loves God must also love his brother and sister.“1 John 4:20-21 CSB

Read 1 John 4:7-21 to get the full context of these couple of verses. Verse 7 discusses knowing God in terms of showing love. Verse 8 says the opposite is true, in regards to not knowing God, if we don’t show love. Verse 12 directly addresses love and God, as does verse 16. This whole passage is covered in love as the litmus test for our relationship with God.

To put it simply, ignorance of God is not knowing God. We cannot expect those who are ignorant of God and of love to show either in their life. The only cure for ignorance is education. We must tell others about God. You cannot legislate understanding, compassion, and love. You certainly cannot riot and loot your way into those things. However, you can educate your way into it.

Romans 10:14-15 NLT 14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, ”How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!“

We, as believers, all have something to say - and now more than ever - it‘s important to find an audience.
