1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV) But the LORD said to Samuel, ”Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
The prophet Samuel had been sent by God to anoint King Saul’s replacement from the family of Jesse. Samuel assumed that the eldest son or the strongest son or the tallest son would be God’s choice. Samuel was wrong.. God had chosen David to be King. David was the youngest. He was the least obvious choice.
God explained to Samuel that appearance and strength don’t make the servant of God. God looks at what is in one&rsqu;s heart.
Have you been discouraged from a task, an assignment, or a ministry because you feel too small for the job? Have you doubted your abilities?
God tells us that what is in your heart is what matters. David, God’s choice, went on to slay the giant, Goliath, and to lead Israel to many victories.
What has God put in your heart to do? Listen to what God puts on your heart, and be steadfast in your faith. God will give you the strength to accomplish what He is calling you to do.
