2020-04-13 - Taking the High Road
Jesus loved us enough to take our sins upon Himself. Jesus asked God to forgive us while He hung painfully on the cross. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34 NIV) The Lord asks us to do the same, which isn't so easy.
My cat Starlight has no issue with forgiveness. She rarely tries to get even when her younger sister attacks and chases her. We, too, are to be less self-absorbed and selfish.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.." (Philippians 2:3-4 NIV)
Jesus put the whole world on His shoulders, so every man and woman could receive His righteousness. Such love for the human race!
Lord, You endured loneliness, shame, and tremendous pain while on the cross. Thank You for dying in my place. Show me how to treat others better than I treat myself. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
