[CF Devotionals] 2020-04-06 - Waving Our Invisible Branches

- - - - - -

Happy Palm Sunday! We may not have any palms to wave, and we may not be able to sit in an actual church building, but we can still celebrate Jesus’ royal entry into Jerusalem, those many years ago.

The next day, the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” (John 12:12-13 NIV)

Palm Sunday falls on the Sunday before Easter, and signifies when people acknowledged Jesus as Lord and Savior while He was on Earth.

Some may ask why we should praise the Lord, when the world is in such trauma. It may be difficult to find something good to thank Him for. The Lord handles impossibilities. He is the author of them. (Luke 18:27)

It is easy to focus on current and problems and difficulties. The enemy is a powerful foe, but he is no match for the Lord, Almighty! The capable Lord has a good track record. "For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise." (Psalm 47:7 NIV)

God, You want our praise, and not due to an inflated ego. May our praises be pleasing to Your Holy ears, and may we gain satisfaction by glorifying You. In the name of Jesus' I pray, Amen.
