2020-04-04 - What Lies Ahead
Matthew 16:21 (NIV) From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
Sometimes, we aren't sure what lies ahead - though we are blessed with the most information we have ever had. As Lent draws to a close and Holy Week approaches, we read again what Jesus told his disciples before the approaching events. Jesus was trying to prepare them for a tumultuous week which began with a triumphant parade on Palm Sunday. During the week, there would be betrayal, suffering, and agony on a cross. But at the end of that long week, there would be the Resurrection and new life.
Any time we go through trying times, we are reminded of the experience of Jesus and his disciples. They made it through a difficult week and experienced the joy of Jesus’ Resurrection. May this example give us hope in the days to come.
