2020-01-18 - A Fix for Habitual Sin and Its Consequences
Romans 7:21 (NIV) Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.
A cheating scandal has recently been uncovered in a major professional sport. Managers and players sought an advantage by pushing the rules to the limit - and then beyond. Even though they were warned several times to adhere to the rules, they continued to violate the rules. Ultimately, they were caught and punished.
As Christians, we know the rules that we are to follow. We have the Bible as our guidebook for how to live. In the Bible, we find the Ten Commandments and the teachings of Jesus. We also have the Apostle Paul’s epistles which contain clear guidance.
Yet we often fail to live by the rules. We try to stretch the boundaries and end up crossing the lines. We sin, and we suffer the consequences of our failures. But we know that we are also forgiven, if we trust in Christ as our Lord and Savior. He paid the price for our sins by His death and resurrection. Do you trust in Him? Are you reading the Bible daily, worshipping and spending time in fellowship with mature Christians?
