[Calvary Chapel] 2019-11-02 - Alarm Bells

- - - - - - -

Psalm 51:10 (NIV) Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Yesterday, the fire alarm system at our church was activated by a power outage during storms. The alarm bells inside and outside the church building were ringing very loudly. In fact, the noise hurt my ears. I had to hit the reset button, to stop the alarm.

How often do we hear alarm bells in our Christian lives? Do warnings go off when we stray from the straight path? Do chimes sound when we fall behind in our prayers? Do we hear an inner alarm, an uncomfortable nudge?

We can hit the reset button in our own spiritual lives, too. We just need to ask God for forgiveness and then help us to start over. With God, etc day is a new one for our spiritual lives.

Lamentations 3:22 (Amplified Classic) It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness.

Have you listened to God’s alarms? Have you hit the reset button by praying, getting into the word of God and active in your local church?
