2019-04-29 - What Would David Say?
Psalm 142
I pour out before him my complaint; before him I tell my trouble. When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way. In the path where I walk, people have hidden a snare for me. Listen to my cry, I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me. Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather about me cause of your goodness to me. (Psalm 142:2-3, 6-7 NIV)
I am alone in a dark cave, with no end in sight. I have a right to complain. You would also, if the world turned against you. At least God doesn't mind if I share my frustrations. He sees the turmoil. I wasn't about to keep anything back. I asked God to rescue me from this peril. I need Him to bring about something good. I have the determination, but lack the strength to fight anymore.
If God set me free from this prison, I'd praise His name. I believe in God's goodness, even though the future looks grim. The Lord encouraged me to keep going. I refuse to give up when trouble surrounds me. Its aim is to take over, but I have to rise above, to be effective. Protect me against defeating incidents, Lord. These afflictions will make me fail, if I let them. Thank You, my Lord, for being a good listener.
God, Let me see Your hand at work. Please let Your favor be evident to all. May I be useful, so others can get to know You better, Lord. I long for time with You. I want to know how I am to live. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
