2018-03-08 - Patience and Trust
"… casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7 NKJV)
There are times when cares press against our faith and patience. Waiting for an overdue baby, waiting for a job opening to come our way, waiting for the surgeon to let us know how a loved one's operation went.
We have very little or no control over the situation. We are forced to trust. For those of us who are used to getting things done, it is not an easy thing at all to let go of our cares and trust. Even when that trust is being handed over to the One that created us. He knows us inside and out. He knows the plan He has for us. He has our days number from eternity past - right down to the day we will return home to be with Him forever - if we will trust Him with our lives.
All of those individual points has a matching verse. Some have songs we love to sing and it is still not easy. Jesus died to make the relationship we have as believers possible. He turned water into wine, raised Jairus' daughter and Lazarus from death, showed grace and forgiveness to the woman caught in adultery. He removed the shackles from our spiritual hands and feet on the cross and when He rose from the grave on the third day - freedom. All of these things are reminders of His love for us and that is able to do what He promised us.
We still struggle. In our hearts and minds we understand. In my most recent struggle the Lord has sent a few people with great hearts to walk with me keeping things positive and full of hope. We are supposed to build each other up. In the chaos and hectic days we live in, we can live differently. We can be the one that people come to when they're having troubles because we have hope.
Be ready. Be willing to share that hope.
Lord, thank You for the gifts you have given me of friends who continually point me back to You. They help me keep my eyes and my mind on You and Your love. Amen.
Grace & Peace,
