Joy to the World is a well-known Christmas carol written by Isaac Watts in 1719. I admit, I don't always remain joyous. Especially at Christmastime, when there are extra shopping trips hunting for appropriate gifts, more crowds, traffic, events, and many reasons to spend money.

When I think about the Christmas preparations, I am not very joyous. It's when I take a moment and think about Jesus' birthday, the reason behind the hustle and bustle, joy begins to bubble out of me.

"Shout to the Lord, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy! You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done." (Psalms 92:4, 98:4 NLT)

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the world, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

Lyrics by Isaac Watts

Lord, Happy Birthday! May I find happiness in You, and not in material possessions. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
