2017-11-13 - Our Refuge
I admit to giving negative emotions control. How is it my brain gravitates toward the worst, instead of relying on the truth that the Lord will never leave or forsake us? (See Deuteronomy 31:8.)
God welcomes us to hide out with Him. The Lord is safe. He is the source of wisdom and peace we are desperately seeking. That's hard when we don’t have all the pieces to the puzzle. Still, we are to look to God and not circumstances.
As God’s child, I have authority to overcome lies and fears that try to make me ineffective. Psalm 91 eloquently reaffirms this truth. “Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place–the Most High, who is my refuge–no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.” (Psalm 91:9-13) God is our hiding place. He will protect us from trouble. We don't have to rely on negative thoughts that try and take over.
I am ready and expect to see great things. Help me see the good in the present, and to be thankful. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
