2017-10-23 - How to be the Perfect Mom
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Proverbs 31:28 NIV
Even with the modern conveniences that we enjoy today, I don’t think I could complete all the tasks the Proverbs 31 woman accomplishes within a 24-hour period. Her day begins early and ends late, that I relate to. She makes sure breakfasts are made and the chores are completed. The ideal woman loves a good bargain and creates clothes for her family. Lazy isn’t a word that comes naturally to her, it is not in the mother’s vocabulary. The perfect woman never complains that she has so much work to do and little help to get it done. Her main rule is to do everything with kindness, the way she would like to be treated. This woman is there to help her fellow man when in need. It is a fulfilling feeling to know her husband and children bless and praise her.
God has never asked us to be perfect. While qualities of this fantastic woman are ones we can strive to achieve, we can take the pressure off ourselves for God is not expecting you or me to fulfill this list of duties and tasks.
Super moms don’t exist except in the pages of books or on television and movie screens. We can have peace knowing we don’t have to be perfect. It’s not in our mortal makeup. The mother in Proverbs 31 is a case study rather than a list of characteristics to achieve. For all are incapable of matching the glory of God, but God treats us and views us better than we deserve. (see Romans 3:23-24)
Lord, Show me how to balance all my responsibilities for a fulfilling and great life. May I be a blessing to my family. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
