[PC-USA] 2017-08-08 - AutoCorrect

- - - - - - -

I'm sure that some of you are like me, and become annoyed when autocorrect tries to "fix" something that is not actually wrong, like a name you are typing that it doesn't recognize. Some of the programs aren't too smart. I would assume the programmers would allow differently for capitalized words. Usually the first thing I will do when I buy a device is to turn off the spelling and autocorrection. As a spelling bee champion, I can afford to do this.

But one autocorrection system that I can not afford to turn off, is when it comes to sin. The longer we walk in relationship with Christ, the more sensitive we will become to sins and situations that could end up being sinful. Fortunately, we are not on our own. We have a Helper, the Holy Spirit, and He is with us all the time:

Romans 8:9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.

The Spirit will empower us to resist temptations, and thus to become more and more like our Lord:

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

1 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

I urge you to join me in asking God to help us be more sensitive and obedient to the Holy Spirit's guidance, and to help us be better at auto-correcting ourselves. That will happen as we become more and more conformed to Christ's image (See also Romans 8:29).
